US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to meet next Thursday during the APEC Summit in South Korea, leading to a wilder upswing in US bourse on Thursday afternoon.

The DJIA closed up 144 points or 0.3%, at 46,734. The S&P 500 gained 39 points or 0.6%, closing at 6,738. The Nasdaq finished up 201 points or 0.9%, at 22,941.

Tesla (TSLA.US) saw a 12% rebound in 3Q revenue, snapping a two-quarter decline, although earnings missed. The stock initially fell but closed up 2.3%. IBM (IBM.US) reported 3Q earnings and revenue beat, slowing its stock downfall to 0.9%.

American Airlines (AAL.US) logged a smaller-than-expected loss last quarter, with full-year earnings guidance better than expected, shoring the stock up 5.6%.

Some major techs fared well, with Oracle (ORCL.US) soaring 2.7%, and Nvidia (NVDA.US) and Amazon (AMZN.US) each hiking by about 1%. Apple (AAPL.US) added 0.4%.
